The Venue Brought the 90’s Back with Boyz II Men, Bobby Brown, & TLC

tlcA decently priced Jameson on the rocks supplied the buzz, Alec Bradley Cigars set the mood, and the Village Square Buffet provided the sustenance all before we even set foot inside The Venue located inside Hammond, Indiana’s Horseshoe Casino where we would enjoy a weekend of 90’s R&B supplied by Boyz II Men, Bobby Brown, and TLC.

Cypher Lounge Radio spent almost the entire weekend enjoying what the Hammond Horseshoe Casino had to offer. We gambled, we ate well, we drank better, and we enjoyed the ultimate R&B experience as the three aforementioned acts didn’t disappoint as they took us back down memory lane at The Venue, which serves a perfect place to view such performances  The Venue is large enough to feel like a big concert venue and small enough to feel like an intimate music lounge.

Saturday night, Bobby Brown showed why he was once heralded as the “King of R&B” as went through a slew of hits from his classic “Don’t Be Cruel” album. From “Every Little Step” to “Roni” the packed house stood for the entire duration of his throwback performance.

Boyz II Men was the headliner that same evening and they showed why supreme vocal ability will always be relevant in the music industry. Although Mike has long departed the group, THEY STILL GOT IT! From “Bended Knee” to “End of the Road,” the triumphant trio had the ladies singing, couples slow dancing, and the men trying to copy their “MotownPhilly” swag.

Sunday night was more of same with the pre game  ritual of good food, good drinks, and a good cigar but the real party was supplied by TLC as T-Boz and Chilli accompanied by Lil Mama brought the damn house down as they turned The Venue into their own personal house party. Everybody in the crowd was trying to “Creep” toward the stage but no one was trying to keep it on the down low. It was quite obvious as T-Boz invited everyone down to join in on the fun. From “Baby Baby Baby,” “Ain’t Too Proud to Beg,” to “Waterfalls,” we two-stepped, hit that Nae Nae, and reminisced about the late great Lisa “Left Eye” Lopes.

It was definitely a weekend to remember and we highly suggest that you hit the Horseshoe Casino and The Venue if you happen to be in the Chicagoland/Indiana area. Tune-In Wednesday at 7pm PST as Hassahn Phenomenon and Dasha, The Divine Divah recap all the weekend shenanigans live inside the Cypher Scene segment of the show.
